Mission
Under the jurisdiction of the Vice Provost of Academic Affairs and Dean of Students, Student Life Office has been charged with the responsibility of managing the William Pitt Union. The Union is the University's center for student activities and the focus of the Pitt community. Its facilities and services are designed to enhance the quality of student life, support extracurricular activities and contribute to the fulfillment of the University's educational mission.
The William Pitt Union Management Office is located on the Main Floor. All management personnel can be reached through the Information Desk. The Office is staffed during all hours that the building is open.
The William Pitt Union is equipped to accommodate disabled persons. It is also equipped with a central fire alarm system. In the event of an alarm, audio instructions will be given. Union staff and University police will direct evacuation.

Operating hours may differ during holidays and inter-term periods.
Extensions of building hours to accomodate programs are not routinely accepted. In the event of such approval, the sponsor assumes all additional costs.

Services

Art Gallery: The Art Gallery, located on the Main Floor, is available for use by student organizations for exhibits. During the fall and spring terms, the Pitt Program Council is responsible for contracting exhibits and art shows in the gallery.

Computer Kiosks: University email kiosks are located on the Main floor & Lower Level of the Union.

Information Desk: The Information Desk is staffed during normal operating hours. The staff are available to provide information regarding the William Pitt Union, its services and schedule of events as well as general information for the University. When in need of assistance during a program, users should contact the House Manager through the Information Desk personnel.

Will Call Service: The Information Desk provides will call service for organizational business. Items may be left for subsequent pick-up during normal operating hours. Personal items are not accepted.

Lost & Found: All lost items found in and around the William Pitt Union are registered and stored at the Information Desk. Items may be claimed after 4:00 pm Monday through Friday and during building hours on Saturday and Sunday. Items are disposed of after 37 days.

Lockers: Thirty coin-operated lockers for short term holding are located in the Lower Level Lobby. Overnight storage is not permitted.

Cubicles and Storage: All certified student organizations are eligible to apply for a cubicle or storage located in the student organization office complex on the 5th floor. Applications may be filed with the William Pitt Union Management Office at the Information Desk. Assignments are effective from March through February.

Mailboxes: All certified student organizations are eligible to apply for a campus mailbox with SORC located in 833 William Pitt Union.

Public Phones: Coin operated public phones are located in the Main Lobby. Campus phones are available in the Main Lobby and on the Lower Level of the building.

Nordy's (Recreation Center): Nordy's features billiards, video games, table games, Gigs Game Center and the Juice Bar. A current University of Pittsburgh ID is required. Special arrangements can be made by groups to use Nordy's. Thursday through Saturday late night programming is handled through Pitt Program Council. Food and beverages for events can be purchased through the Juice Bar.
