Rooms

Assembly Room

The Assembly Room is the primary multi-purpose room in the William Pitt Union. Subsequently, it is also the best equiped room for meeting your audio/visual needs for many types of events. The room is capable of handling a wide variety of projection needs, from Powerpoint and VHS or DVD presentations to satellite downlinks and teleconferencing. The room features two different speaker systems, suitable for any event from large meetings to theatrical presentations. The room is also ADA compatible, featuring a Gentner Assisted Listening System and having a wheelchair accessible stage. The Assembly Room is also the only room in the Union featuring an installed lighting system and follow spot light capabilities.

Ballroom

The William Pitt Union Ballroom features an eight speaker distributed ceiling speaker system powered by an Ashly PowerFlex 4400 amplifier, and mixing provided by an Ashly MX-406 Stereo Six Channel Mixer, and a Shure SCM810 Eight Channel Microphone Mixer. The Ballroom offers up to ten monoral inputs, allowing for a wide variety of events to take place: ranging from small board meetings, lectures, banquets and receptions. Additional sound reinforcement can be supplied through one of the William Pitt Union Tecnical Staff's portable PA systems, allowing the room to easily accommodate a small band or theatrical production (with added portable lighting trees). As with any room in the Union, the Technical Staff is able to provide portable projection in the room. The room also features a Gentner Assisted Listening System.

Kurtzman Room

The Kurtzman Room offers up to eight microphone inputs which are fed into a four speaker, hidden, wall-mount sound system. The entire system is powered by a Ashly PowerFlex 4400 amplifier, and mixing provided by an Ashly MX508 Stereo Eight Channel Mixer. The Kurtzman Room is ideal for small lectures, receptions, press conferences and meetings. As with any room in the Union, the Technical Staff is able to provide portable projection in the room. The room also features a Gentner Assisted Listening System.

Lower Lounge

The Lower Lounge installed system offers twelve microphone inputs which are fed into a four speaker wall-mount sound system. As with most of the other room in the Union, the room's sound system is powered by a Ashly PowerFlex amplifier, and mixing provided by an Ashly MX-406 Stereo Six Channel Mixer, and a Shure SCM810 Eight Channel Microphone Mixer. This, combined with the great amount of natural lighting avaliable in the Lower Lounge due to its almost three complete sides of windows, make for an excellent location for meetings, lectures, and luncheons. Additional sound reinforcement can be supplied through one of the William Pitt Union Tecnical Staff's portable PA systems, allowing the room to easily accomidate a small band or theatrical production (with added portable lighting trees). As with any room in the Union, the Technical Staff is able to provide portable projection in the room. The room also features a Gentner Assisted Listening System.

Dining Rooms A & B

Dining Rooms A & B are each equipped with six microphone inputs and in-ceiling speaker clusters. The small size of these rooms typically does not require aduio support; however, we are capable of providing podium microphones and sound reinforcement for data and video presentations. As with any room in the Union, the Technical Staff is able to provide portable projection in these rooms.

Meeting Rooms

The William Pitt Union Technical Staff is capable of providing a variety of services for the eight meeting rooms located on the building's fifth and sixth floors including data, video, 35mm slide, and transparency projeciton.

Equipment

Microphones

The Technical Staff maintains a large selection of some of the industry's standard microphones, suited for a wide variety of uses. We also maintain a small stock of "classic" microphones suited for specialized recording (call for details).

Portable Audio Systems

The William Pitt Union Technical Staff's portable sound systems are primarily for usage at outside areas located on the William Pitt Union lawn. The systems can also be used for additional sound reinforcement for large events or press conferences within the Union or in the surrounding areas.

Portable Projection Systems

The William Pitt Union Technical Staff is capable of providing data, video, 35mm slide, and transparency projection in any room located in the Union. In addition to our in-house Epson 8300i projector located in the Assembly Room, we also offer InFocus LP650 and Epson 830p projectors. These projectors allow for computers (Apple and PC), VHS, Pal, Beta, DVD, and Laser Disc, as well as a variety of additional formats to be connected. Additionally, these units can be tied into the house sound systems in any room in the Union, allowing for audio feeds from videos or other multimedia presentations to be heard by all in attendence.

Lighting

The Assembly Room features an installed 24 channel Leprechon lighting sytem. There are a total of three rows of theatrical lighting in the room, which can be outfitted with a wide variety of Rosco gels to create different lighting effects. (Any customized lighting schemes must be confirmed with the Technical Manager at least one week prior to the event). Additionally, there are three Phoebus Co. Ultra Arc follow spots avaliable for use in the Assembly Room.

For events outside of the Assembly Room, we offer an 8 channel portable lighting system controlled by ETA Systems dimmer packs and two lighting trees which can be configured in a wide variety of color groupings.
